Blue Flag National Operator and partners in Israel received bags made from Blue Flag old beach flags thanks to a social enterprise offering employment to people in need.
While promoting sustainability in the tourism industry, Blue Flag also campaigns against disparity, inequality, unemployment or other Sustainable Development Goals-related issues. Recently, Blue Flag in Israel cooperated with KitePride, a social enterprise employing people exiting human trafficking and modern-day slavery to turn material that was considered trash into beautiful bags.
This social business based in Tel Aviv makes a difference by giving people and material a second wind and aims to eradicate modern-day slavery in an environmentally sustainable way. If it usually repurposes materials from kitesurfing kites, parachutes, sails and wetsuits to create lightweight and durable bags, it provided Blue Flag Israeli members and partners with Blue Flag bags made from old beach flags.
Blue Flag is delighted to have been associated with this twofold solution restoring the lives of women and men exiting human trafficking while upcycling material headed for the trash. Blue Flag beach flags can now start their new life as beautiful, lightweight and durable bags!
